The Pull List 9: Where's his Jacket?

The world’s third-smartest man – and one of its most eligible bachelors – uses his brains and fists against science gone mad in MISTER TERRIFIC #1, the new series from writer Eric Wallace and artist Roger Robinson. The cover to issue #1 is by J.G. Jones.

Mister Terrific
Writer: Eric Wallace
Artist: Roger Robinson

A bit iffy on this one. Huge fan of Mr. Terrific, what with him being one of the smartest men on the planet. (Somehow, third-smartest actually sounds better than second. 'Cause I'd put money on the smartest man being a white guy, and that has Unfortunate Implications all over it.) But I have no idea who Roger Robinson is, and Eric Wallace's "villain Titans" sounded like crap so I just never bothered to read it. Still, I am nothing if not a man of second chances.

I'll give him the rest of this year to see whether or not Mister Terrific is any good. Four issues, which hopefully will be an entire arc. And whatever information CBR and Newsarama get out of him so I can figure out if he's got a good grip on the character or not.

Either way, unless he calls in some favors, this comic is going to have trouble. Outside of the Justice Society he's not exactly a huge character, so I'm very curious to see just exactly how much he'll sell in the first year. Marvel has actually canceled series before their second issue has come out, and while DC is willing to take more hits before they drop a book, I hope it doesn't come to that.
