Music Video(es) of the Day: Michael Jackson Tribute

Yeah, I'm doing another day of MJ tributes. What's it say at the top? Jumping in Headfirst? Right, that's my site, so we do what I wanna do.

Plus, I intended to give you guys these anyway, just not at first.



The first of these is a cover of the Michael Jackson song, Smooth Criminal. I hate to say it, but I first heard this song watching American Pie 2 when I was 14 and liked it so much I had to get someone to burn me a CD with it. Still--whatever. I like it, hope you do too.



Admittedly, while the video is amusing, its nowhere near as cool as some of MJ's. That said? The kid breakdancing? Hilarious.

Heh, if you didn't like THAT one, I know you won't like this next one. I HATE doing this, but apparently a gang of jack-asses on YT got rid of all the fan-uploaded versions of this, so I'll have to link you to it. I hate doing that. One, because I like the traffic. Two? You can catch stupid reading their comments.

Fall Out Boy's cover of Beat It.

Pay careful attention to the video and you'll catch Scrubs' Donald Faison (Turk!) doing his best MJ impression. I was actually, well...impressed. :D Enjoy.

Okay, near as I can tell, that should pretty much do it for MJ related songs in the Video of the Day. Tomorrow? Haven't decided yet.

Starting a new section today, entitled Sage Spoils The Plot. I pondered over this name for quite a while, but as I thought about it, I realized calling it commentary or blogging or whatever is just bullshit. What you're REALLY doing is spoiling the plot and adding your own brand of shitty humor. So, why not be honest? Plus, Sage Spoils The Plot has kind of a ring to it. For the first section we're doing the new Kamen Rider series of 2009, Kamen Rider Decade. Kamen Rider checks a lot of "totally fucking awesome" boxes for me. A lot of people might call it, "Japanese Power Rangers" (which is untrue from the start since that already exists) due to the suits and the fight scenes. I accept this. That said, its proof that anything done right can be cool--so when you get rid of the over-acting, toss in a good plot (exceptionally good plots actually), add in some well done characterization, and tone down the stupid-level of the fight scenes and make them look less l

The New 52, Corrected: Justice Legion A

What Happened: It’s another replacement book.  This time we’re getting rid of Legion Lost.  What I’d Change: Enjoy the adventures of the Justice League of the 853rd century.  Why: Put simply?  Legion Lost didn’t have enough legs to function as an ongoing series.  A group of the Legion’s best members go to the past to combat an alien virus...and then what.  They get stuck?  Meh.  The appeal of the Legion is they’re from the future.  This could have been a great MINI-series; something with a beginning, a middle, and an end.  As an ongoing I got bored, really fast.  So instead let’s replace them with a book about the Justice League of the far future. DC's got a terrible habit of making up awesome concepts and then leaving them by the wayside, this is one of DC’s greatest and its only been revisited like, twice.  (Once by Geoff Johns with Booster Gold 1,000,000 and once with Chris Roberson with some Superman/Batman comic.)   It helps lighten the hit that came with Flashpoint

I Read A Ton Of Superman Comics And Wound Up Angry At Man of Steel

I've always had the opinion that Man of Steel is a fine movie.  Occasionally my stance is it's a great Dragon Ball Z film, and a mediocre at best Superman film.  It never really made me angry, because there ARE some good parts to it. But last night I read Superman: Birthright and Superman: Secret Origin, and the more I read of each one, the more I realize that I only think Man of Steel is "fine" when viewed in a vacuum.  When specifically compared to Mark Waid (or even Geoff Johns') comics, Man of Steel goes from "yeah, whatever" to embarrassing.  How could anyone have looked at that film and thought it could be a decent representation of Superman?    The best parts of it are the beginning where they show Kryptonian society, and the fight scenes (like I said, DBZ).   It's boring-ass muted colors and a Superman film that's trying so hard to get across a bunch of lazy metaphors about Chri
