E3 Hopes & Expectations Day 1

Image
I usually wait until like the day before (or the day of) E3 to do this, but this year I'm going to do something a bit different.  I've got quite a few games I'm looking forward to seeing, so I'll be doing mini-features on each one leading up to the actual pre-show press conference days, which start on June 14th with Bethesda's Fallout show conference.    If it all works out, I'll start out with the ones I think are most likely to appear, then work my way down to "not a chance" and eventually reach "lol why do you think this would even happen".    Wish me luck.

All-New X-Men I won't lie--when I first read this news on CBR, I didn't approve.  Not because I have a problem with gay people, or gay characters--but because I've been reading comics too long and that means I usually hate when you fundamentally change a character like this.   Especially through stories that use such...specious logic as Bendis' X-Men run has.  (The, "no, this is really our timeline" deal he's been pushing since Age of Ultron.)    But reading the issue as a whole, it's well done.  Though at this point I definitely understand why Professor X suppressed Jean's psychic powers--she seems utterly incapable of minding her own business--I get it.  The scene makes sense with proper context, and if this helps some dorky teenage comic book fan to find the courage to accept and be more comfortable who they are, then that's wonderful. Captain America and the Mighty Avengers "See Nextwave."   Or, y'know, don't.  It's awful.  That said, alongside Ms. Marvel, Mighty Avengers may just have the market cornered on how to do diversity without pissing anyone off.   Yeah, Falcap is still a mistake (introducing him during Axis was an awful idea) but it's not that often you get this many A-tier (in power, at least) heroes from so many diverse backgrounds.   And giving the REAL Captain Marvel her own story arc?   Even if I disliked what I read of Nextwave, I just can't get mad at this. Meanwhile, over in DC it's 90's week.  Let's see how everyone's doing?

Last week was the spectre that just wouldn't let me go.  Between graduation and my mom's trip to the hospital (just a gallbladder removal, we're all good) I had about twelve hours sleep across four days.  So I apologize for taking so long to get back to this.   Anyway, let's get started.
